Had to get this off my chest

It's odd, when you're younger you think you live in the best country on Earth and you love it, because who wouldn't love the best country in the world?
And then you're introduced to college, and they systematically tear down every single romantic vision you had of your country's past, grinding childhood beliefs into dust before your very eyes. And, if you're like me (a coward, perhaps?) you hate it, are disgusted, revolted...
But you're like me, you can not turn away, no matter how hideous it is.
And through the picture, once they have torn down your innocent belief in a country that has always stood for everything good, everything true, you slowly see through the darkness. To the pervading hope and spirit of a land, of people who--though they fight amongst each other--are willing to band together when there is need, willing to stay and fix what is wrong.
Throughout the horror, there is hope.
We've a lot further to go, but we've come a long way.
Lord, I love this land...
God bless America.

That being said, Canada, of course, is perfect ;)
