Saw OotP at the midnight showing on Tuesday/Wednesday and it ROCKED, much to my surprise. The book--while still better than many out in the world--is my least favorite of the series because the storyline is seriously undermined by horrifically clunky writing and too many bit parts. The movie streamlined the majority of the book which made it more interesting to watch (though the cuts may horrify some purists), and there were only two scenes cut that I actually wanted to see though in the long run even those cuts make sense theatrically speaking. The rest of the decisions to eliminate extraneous characters, and reshuffle some scenes/meld them together made for an interesting, fast paced movie that is the first HP film I actually want to see again.
And there is cute stuff that makes me squee. But, uh, this is DETERMINEDLY spoiler free, so ping me if you want to hear me babble. :D.
*and shoos friends to go see ASAP*
